How To Convince Your Boss To Let You Watch The Kavanaugh Hearing

Sep 27, 2018

Consider it must-see TV: Thursday, the Senate Judiciary Committee is set to hear testimonies from Brett Kavanaugh and Christine Blasey Ford centered on her allegation that the Supreme Court nominee sexually assaulted her when they were in high school.

The hearing is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. EDT, and most major networks are expected to carry live coverage of the news event.

But what do you do if you’re stuck at work and really want to watch it? After all, this isn’t your average Supreme Court nominee televised hearing; it’s a huge cultural moment, both for Kavanaugh’s confirmation process and the Me Too movement at large.

There’s a right way to ask your boss for permission, human resources experts say, granted you have a job where taking time to watch is possible.
