Dress codes have a purpose within the workforce, both in terms of reflecting the organization’s culture and presenting a certain image to customers. However, the downside of a strictly enforced dress code is that employees may tend to feel stifled in their personal expression.

In the case of an employee who enjoys expressing themselves through their attire, a strict dress code could lead to severe unhappiness. A company needs to figure out where the balance lies between enforcing a dress code and allowing employees to be relaxed and open about their personalities.
